The Mauritius Co-operative Agricultural Federation (MCAF) serves as the voice of the agricultural community, specifically the cooperative groups involved in sugar production. As such, it holds representation on various boards and committees within institutions closely linked to the sugar industry. Through these positions, MCAF representatives actively participate in decision-making processes, ensuring the protection and promotion of the interests of small-scale planters.

Membership within the MCAF comprises 112 Co-operative Credit Societies. For Crop 2023, a total of 8,722 planters have delivered cane, with 5,117 of them being enrolled in Co-operative Credit Societies (CCS). These planters have harvested cane across an area of 4,990 hectares, resulting in a sugar production of 23,213 tons.
On a factory area basis for Crop 2023:
> The total number of planters contributing cane stands at 8,722.
> Among them, 5,117 planters are affiliated with CCS.
> Planters operating through CCS represent 59% of the total.
> The overall harvested area for the country amounts to 34,801 hectares.
> CCS planters have harvested across 4,990 hectares.
> The sugar production from CCS planters accounts for 23,213 tons
