The MCAF acts as the mouthpiece of the planting community grouped in co-operatives and therefore is represented on the boards and committees of several institutions which are closely associated with the sugar industry. The representatives have a say in the decision making process and as such safeguard and protect the interests of small planters. Some of the institutions where the MCAF has its representatives are:
