HISTORY

Our timeline

1950

The MCAF was founded on the 16th August.

1975

MCAF started supplying fertilisers to farmers.

1982

MCAF erected a building of 7000 ft2 at Caudan in a portion of 65 perches of lease land

1987

In view to diversify its activities and to supply a larger variety of agri-inputs, the MCAF started opening sales centres around the island.

2006

The MCAF constructed a new building of 3600ft2 known as the “MCAF & IFFCO complex” at l`Escalier.

2010

Initiated the Bio Fert Project during a bilateral exchange from IFFCO

2015

Construction of a New two storey Building at La Marie with a total area of 4,300 ft2Biofert Ltd inaugurated on 23rd of February by The Right Honourable Sir Anerood Jugnauth

2018

Iffco – signed MOU – twinning program, 11 December 2018

2019

A new direction of the MCAF Ltd – Redefining of the ‘VISION’ and ‘MISSION’.Inaugurated by Mr. S.Ramasawmy Deputy Permanent Secretary, 1st June 2019Setting of vegetable seedling production at La Marie

2020

Implementation of seedling project as Maison des Plantules

2021

At D’Epinay, Mechanisation Unit – 1st MoU between the MCIA & MCAF for the purchase of the harvester.
This harvester project is an example of how we will have to harvest. The use of equipment is necessary in agriculture.

2021 - 2022

Expansion of seedling unit2021: Expansion of seedling unit – 600 m2 to 1200 m2 to 1500 m2 Importation of trays, peat moss, and seeds; Participation in Cooperative Fair. 2022: Participation in Cooperative Fair (strengthening visibility). 

23 March 2022

At MCIA, 2nd MoU between the MCIA & MCAF for the purchase of the second harvester.The acquisition of a second harvester for the harvesting of sugar cane by small and medium planters was signed between the Mauritius Cane Industry Authority (MCIA) and the Mauritius Co-operative Agricultural Federation (MCAF) Ltd, in Réduit, on Wednesday, 23th of March, 2022.

2023

Lease of 100 Arp with Rose Belle Sugar Estate BoardIn connection with this, the Federation is under the process to lease 100 Arpents of sugarcane land from Rose Belle Sugar Estate Board (RBSEB).  It will be a showcase for small planters where the Federation will demonstrate Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in cultivating sugarcane that is using ecofriendly products along with locally produce Bio-Fertilizers, thereby, reducing our dependency on chemical fertilizers.

2023

Participation in Les Assises de l’Agriculture; Engagement in Cooperative Fair., 2023

2024

Head Office at Bell Village, 2024 Inauguration of New Head Office include latest design and infrastructure for all business operations' necessities.

2025

75th years of MCAF Celebrating of 75 years of existence

2025 –Present

Innovation & Scalable 

2024–2025: Mulcher & Chipper Machine for compost production.
2025: End of Month Roadshow; Participation in International Cooperative Day; Our 2nd Project at Head Office.
